How to organize saved recipe videos into one searchable cookbook
Cooking videos end up saved in three apps, between everything else you saved. When it’s time to cook, the one you wanted is hard to find, and its amounts are still inside the video. Pull Recipe turns each saved video into a written recipe in one cookbook: searchable by ingredient, and ready to send to your notes.
Updated
The videoWhat you need
- The links to the videos you saved: TikToks, Instagram Reels, YouTube videos and Shorts, and video posts on other sites.
- No account to start. Your cookbook lives in this browser; sign up with Google, Microsoft or an email code to keep it and open it on your other devices.
Your first 3 videos that give you a recipe are free. After that, Plus is $7.99 a week, $17.99 a month or $39.99 a year, with unlimited imports under fair use (see pricing). Saved recipes stay readable either way.
Step by step
Bring in one saved video
Open a video in your saved folder, copy its link (Share, then Copy link) and paste it into Pull Recipe. One video is one import, however many recipes it holds.
Save every recipe in it
A video with one dish opens its card; press Save to cookbook. A video with several dishes gives a list: open the ones you want, or press Save all.
Work through the rest
Go through your saved folder one link at a time. You don’t have to wait on each one: leave the wait screen and the import keeps going, and your cookbook shows it until it’s done.
Find a recipe by what you have
Search looks through titles, ingredients and steps. Type an ingredient you want to use up, such as eggs, and see every saved recipe that uses it.
Send it where you keep things
From any recipe, Send to copies it, downloads it as Markdown, opens it in Obsidian or Bear, prints it, or sends it to Notion. Copies keep the inferred marks as words, the source and the video timestamps.
What your cookbook keeps
Each recipe keeps its source link, its marks and your edits. Saved recipes are listed newest first, and a tile shows inferred when the recipe has an amount to check.
You can export the whole cookbook from Settings at any time. Your saved recipes stay readable, editable and searchable whether or not you have Plus.
Tips
- Start with the videos you plan to cook this week; the rest can follow.
- Once a recipe is saved, you can clear the video from your saved folder: the recipe and its link stay in your cookbook.
- Change servings and amounts to the way you make the dish; your edits are marked as yours.
- Not sure about an amount? See how the marks work.
Try it on a video you saved
Paste its link. Your first 3 videos are free, and you don’t need an account to start.
